Project Funded to Crack Egg Production

Starts in 2011The 2010 Pennsylvania Poultry Industry Research Check-Off Program has funded a study of the economic impact of chicken table egg production in Pennsylvania. Rose Baker and David Passmore will collaborate with Paul Patterson, Penn State Professor of Poultry Science, to quantify the direct, indirect, and induced effects of chicken egg production on value added, income, jobs, and taxes in Pennsylvania.

Egg production in Pennsylvania during March 2010 totaled 588 million eggs from 22.5 million layers.
