The article refers to the Economic & Workforce Brief, "Nonferrous Foundry and Forging in Centre County, Pennsylvania". Rose Baker, David Passmore, and Jin 
Woo Yoo of the Penn State Workforce Education and Development Initiative.
The article, released on September 10, 2008 highlighted an analysis of the
Pittsburgh Corning Corp. summer shutdown on the local economy.

Dallas Business JournalThe Dallas Business Journal recently released an article citing the Penn State Workforce Education & Development Brief, "Forecast of the Potential Impact of Increased Royalty Income on the Pennsylvania Economy, 2008–2011"pdf. The Brief describes the potential impact that natural gas drilling throughout the Marcellus black shale in northern Appalachia could have on the economy and gas royalty benefits for residents.

An obstacle that has prevented drilling in the past has been the rugged terrain of the shale, resulting in extensive periods of time in accessing the resource.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection distributed a news release about a study conducted by Rose Baker and David Passmore of the Penn State Workforce Education and Development Initiative that forecasted the  impact of the elimination of electricity rate caps on the Pennsylvania economy.
