The Penn State Institute for Research in Training & Development conducted an analysis of the economic impacts of pdf iconthe sheet metal manufacturing industry in Bedford County, Pennsylvania. The attached Economic & Workforce Brief, "Role of Sheet Metal Manufacturing in the Economy of Bedford County,” quantifies the role of every 100 workers employed by the sheet metal manufacturing industry in generating jobs, compensation, and property taxes in the County.

Data from the 2002 Economic Census, the most recent economic census available, indicate that there were 211 establishments in the Pennsylvania involved in sheet metal manufacturing (4.8% of all US  sheet metal manufacturing establishments) that shipped $849 million of products (5.5% of value of US shipments in sheet metal manufacturing) with 5,608 employees (4.9% of US employees in sheet metal manufacturing) and an annual payroll of $197 million (4.9% of US payroll in sheet metal manufacturing).
